Improvisations for Guitar Vol. 5 brings forth a meditative almost ambient performance consisting of discordant chord clusters and spatial reverb effects that run the gauntlet of high tension to the relief of release. The recordings are of a much higher quality than past recordings from the artist as well as delivering a performance that has been described as a ‘pre-meditated improvisation’. Wanting to bring an alternative direction in improvising, compared to past performances being harsh and busy, the artist set forth and pre-conceived the pieces before the recording. The end result is less of an improvised set of music and more of a snapshot of guitar compositions in its rawest form.
